The Federal Government, through the CONCEX, have approved Rule number 93, dated 19 August 1974, concerning Law number 59.607, dated 28 November 1966, dealing with Sisal Fibre Specifications destined for exportation.

Standard:

The sisal fibre, or agave, destined for exportation, will be classified per type according to length and quality considering the specification as follows.

Classification per Grade:

TYPE 1 - Colour whitish/soft cream, well brushed, without knots. Length - 91 cm's to 110 cm's - with a tolerance of 20% length between 71 cm's - 90 cm's. Impurity level 1%. Humidity maximum 14%.

TYPE 2 - Colour cream/yellowish, well brushed, without knots. Length - 91 cm's to 110 cm's - with a tolerance of 20% length between 71 cm's - 90 cm's. Impurity level 3%. Humidity maximum 14%.

TYPE 3 - Colour cream/yellowish, well brushed, without knots. Length - 91 cm's to 110 cm's - with a tolerance of 20% length between 71 cm's - 90 cm's. Impurity level 5%. Humidity maximum 14%.

REFUGOS (REJECT) - Colour brownish/green, humidity maximum 14%, presence of knots and high percentage of impurities. No specification for length applies to this grade.

BUCHA (TOW) - Colour yellowish/brownish, humidity maximum 14%, presence of knots and a very high level of dust. No specification for length applies to this grade.
